FOR CHILDREN OF ALL AGES (infancy through adolescence)
Providing a dental home for children, inclusive of all aspects of oral health care, delivered in a comprehensive, continuously accessible, coordinated, and family-centered way.
Infants, children, adolescents, and individuals with special health care needs may experience pain resulting from dental/orofacial injury, infection, trauma.
Providing safe and appropriate use of nitrous oxide for treating children. Judicious use of nitrous oxide/oxygen can provide a safe and effective method of controlling anxiety associated with dental treatment in infants, children, adolescents, and persons with special health care needs.
Caries removal and restorations including composites, resin-modified glass ionomers, crowns, nerve therapy, extractions, space maintainers.
Special health care needs (SHCN) include any physical, developmental, mental, sensory, behavioral, cognitive, emotional, or limiting condition that requires specialized knowledge and increased awareness. FPD provides accommodative measures beyond those that are considered routine.
FPD incorporates Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) & Curodont as part of an ongoing caries management plan with the aim of optimizing individualized patient care consistent with the goals of a dental home.
FPD incorporates minimally invasive approaches to managing carious lesions, including interim therapeutic restorations utilizing silver-modified atraumatic response technique, and Hall technique for placing stainless steel crowns.
laser frenectomies
Dr. Hershko is a certified member of Richard Baxter's Tongue Tie Academy, and is extensively trained on the evaluation and treatment of lip and tongue ties. A frenectomy procedure consists of releasing the tissue underneath the tongue or upper lip to allow for improved range of motion. Restrictions of the lip and/or tongue can cause difficulty with breastfeeding, speech, swallowing, and overall health and development. Treating a tongue or lip tie by "releasing" the tip with a laser may allow a child to grow, develop and thrive. In collaboration with your child's pediatrician, nurse practitioner, lactation consultant, and/or myofunctional or speech therapists, Dr. Hershko is able to provide laser treatment to release a tongue or lip tie. The safety and health of your child is of utmost priority. Dr. Hershko welcomes referrals from your child's providers to confirm a diagnosis and formulate a proper treatment plan.
